Weekly Adventures
This week was all about New Mexico’s culture and lighting up the night! The highlight was the International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta’s Special Shape Glodeo. As the sun set, over a hundred balloons lit up the night sky as their burners fired up, casting a magical glow across the field.
After the festival, we still craved more of New Mexico’s night lights. So, we headed out to the desert with Boomer for some constellation hunting. Boomer got excited, thinking he found a bright star—but it was just the moon!
Bite-Sized Reviews: Coyote Café + Rooftop Cantina
Back in downtown Santa Fe, we explored the rooftop cantina at the highly recommended Coyote Café. The food was fantastic, the views were stunning, and the art added to the perfect atmosphere!
Weekend Wanderlust
As the weekend arrived, we headed to Bandelier National Monument to explore Native American culture and ancient ruins. We spent the day hiking from the valley to the top of the canyon and were thrilled to pick up our America the Beautiful—the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass and the passport to document our journey across America.
Our adventures continued with our wonderful food tour guide, Jose, from Food Tour New Mexico. We traveled around Santa Fe’s historic plaza, where we sampled delicious dishes and learned about the city's rich history, including the Palace of the Governors, the oldest public building in America. We wrapped up the weekend with Mass on Sunday at St. John the Baptist parish and a decadent brownie sundae from the famous Kakawa Chocolate House!
