Boots, Brunch + BBQ

📍 Written from: Austin, TX USA

Austin, Texas, has quickly become one of our favorite stops on our journey. We embraced the full Texan experience, starting with two-step dancing at Wild West and finally having the perfect excuse to wear my red cowboy boots! We enjoyed picking up new dance steps while seeing all the true cowboys on the dance floor with their big hats, belt buckles, and pointy boots.

No trip to Austin would be complete without indulging in the city’s famous food, and our Secret Food Tours was a highlight. We tasted some of the best BBQ, tacos, and local bites—each one more delicious than the last. But beyond the incredible flavors, it was great to meet people from all over, including new friends from Canada, California, and Dallas. Sharing stories over great food made the experience unforgettable.

We also had the chance to explore the Zilker Botanic Gardens, where we strolled through quaint landscapes and embraced the peaceful atmosphere with the city surrounding us.

Another highlight was attending Mass every Sunday at the stunning St. Mary Cathedral in downtown Austin and St. Margaret Mary Church near our family’s home. These moments of reflection each week allow to focus on our many blessings as we start this trip.

Our networking events like the Creator’s Connect introduced us to some amazing creatives from brands like Reebok and Lamborghini. It was inspiring to connect with such talented people, learn about their work, and share our own experiences. While seeing other familiar faces from our virtual networking groups in person was a true highlight, as face-to-face conversations always spark deeper connections.

We also had a blast attending Sofar concerts, where we listened to talented artists in intimate settings like the Rivian Headquarters and Wanderlust Wine Co. Supporting small, local artists in such intimate settings was truly special, especially since attendees were asked to put away their phones. It made the experience more personal and immersive.

Family time was another important part of our Austin adventure. We spent evenings cooking dinners, playing pickleball, and getting competitive with board games and video games.

When the really hot weather hit, we took full advantage of the pool, cooling off under the sun while Boomer happily lounged nearby. The dry heat encouraged us to take Boomer on early morning walks, and we loved watching the deer grazing near our apartment.

We also had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful neighbors during our stay. We shared a lovely brunch at Flower Child where we got to know them better, learning about their strong faith and dedication as parents and business owners. It was heartwarming to find so many similarities between us, making the connection even more meaningful.

Overall, our time in Austin was filled with fun, delicious food, meaningful connections, beautiful scenery, and unforgettable music. We can’t wait to come back!
